Piti Bay and the Western Shoals offer some of the most unique and beginner-friendly dive experiences on Guam, headlined by the famous Piti Bomb Holes Marine Preserve. These natural depressions in the reef flat, carved into the limestone substrate, create sheltered coral-lined pools teeming with fish life and providing exceptional snorkelling and shallow scuba opportunities. The protected marine reserve status ensures healthy coral populations and abundant fish, including green sea turtles that frequent the area. Piti Channel provides a contrasting experience with boat-accessed drift diving attracting larger pelagics, grey reef sharks, eagle rays, and large groupers. The offshore Western Shoals feature pinnacles and walls with excellent visibility, large sea fans, and schools of barracuda and tuna, suitable for advanced divers comfortable with depth and current. The combination of easy shallow sites and more challenging offshore dives makes this area appealing to divers of all certification levels. The marine preserve is easily accessible from the Piti shoreline, making it one of the most popular training and orientation dive sites on the island.

Getting There

Piti Bay is located on the central west coast of Guam, approximately 20 minutes south of Tumon Bay via Marine Corps Drive. The Piti Bomb Holes Marine Preserve has a designated parking area and shore access near the Piti Power Plant. Boat dives to Piti Channel and the Western Shoals depart from operators based in Apra Harbor or Tumon Bay. The area is easily accessible by rental car and several dive shops offer guided trips to both the shore and boat sites.
