Hook Head offers the Pinnacles and George’s Rock with spider crabs and lobsters, while Dunmore East hides limestone caves and conger eels for advanced divers. Waterford Harbour and Kilmore Quay scatter steamer and fishing wrecks rich in macro life, and the Saltee Islands rise as dramatic granite walls patrolled by grey seals and gannets. Tramore’s Metal Man Wall and Wexford’s Tuskar Rock add shallow training and exposed advanced dives. Sheltered and beginner-friendly yet with genuine variety, this region is ideal for building cold-water skills.

Getting There

Fly into Waterford (WAT) or Dublin (DUB) and drive south. Dive centres operate from Dunmore East, Kilmore Quay and Wexford, with boat trips to the Saltees and Hook Head.
