Scuba Diving Regions in Jamaica
From world-class walls to muck diving havens, discover the unique character of each regional cluster.
Regional Diversity
Diving in Jamaica is excellent year-round, thanks to its tropical climate and generally sheltered leeward coastlines. The peak diving season is traditionally from December to May during the dry season, when the weather is sunny, the trade winds are predictable, and the seas are at their calmest. During these months, horizontal visibility is often at its absolute peak. The summer and autumn months (June to November) bring warmer water temperatures, reaching up to 29°C, though this is also the Atlantic hurricane season. While afternoon tropical showers are common during the summer, they rarely impact diving conditions on the north coast. For many, the shoulder months of November and May offer a perfect balance of great weather and more peaceful dive sites. Water temperatures range from a comfortable 26°C in February to 29°C in September.
Planning Tips
Many regions are seasonally dependent. For Jamaica, the best diving conditions are usually spread across different months depending on the archipelago or coast.
