Scuba Diving Regions in Malaysia
From world-class walls to muck diving havens, discover the unique character of each regional cluster.
Regional Diversity
Malaysia is a year-round diving destination, but the best time to visit depends on which coast you plan to explore. For the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia (Tioman, Perhentian), the season runs from March to October, with most resorts closing during the monsoon (November-February). Malaysian Borneo (Sabah) can be dived year-round, but the best conditions are typically found from April to August. Layang-Layang is only accessible from March to August. The water temperature is consistently warm, usually ranging between 27°C and 30°C across all regions.
Planning Tips
Many regions are seasonally dependent. For Malaysia, the best diving conditions are usually spread across different months depending on the archipelago or coast.
