The Far North Atolls of Haa Alif and Haa Dhaalu represent the Maldives' most remote and least-explored diving frontier, located over 300 kilometres north of Male. These pristine atolls offer untouched coral reefs with virtually no other divers, exceptional visibility, and healthy marine ecosystems that have remained largely unaffected by tourism. Haa Alif Atoll features submerged pinnacles like Manafaru Thila attracting schooling jacks and reef sharks, while Haa Dhaalu Atoll offers the renowned Nellaidhoo Kandu channel drift with eagle rays and grey reef sharks. The extreme remoteness ensures an exclusive diving experience with pristine coral gardens, abundant macro life, and the sense of exploring a truly undiscovered underwater wilderness. Very few liveaboards and no resort-based diving operations currently service these atolls, making them a genuine frontier diving destination for adventurous divers seeking solitude and pristine conditions.

Getting There

Accessible via domestic flight from Male to Hanimaadhoo Airport in Haa Dhaalu Atoll (45 minutes). Speedboat transfers reach nearby islands. Some liveaboards include northern atolls on extended itineraries.
