Dauin & Dumaguete (Negros Oriental) – Philippines Dive Region
About Dauin & Dumaguete (Negros Oriental)
Dauin and Dumaguete on the southeastern coast of Negros Oriental form one of the Philippines' most diverse diving regions, combining legendary macro muck diving with spectacular reef diving at nearby Apo Island. Dauin's volcanic black-sand slopes known as Muck City rival Anilao for rare critter encounters, hosting flamboyant cuttlefish, rhinopias, frogfish, ghost pipefish, blue-ringed octopus, wonderpus, and bobtail squid in extraordinary concentrations. Just offshore, Apo Island Marine Sanctuary delivers world-class reef diving with Coconut Point offering thrilling drift dives past schools of jacks and barracuda, Chapel Reef hosting thousands of sea turtles on pristine hard coral, and Mamsa Point providing wall diving with reef sharks and napoleon wrasse. The contrast between Dauin's muck diving and Apo Island's vibrant reefs creates an unmatched diving combination within a single destination. Dumaguete serves as the gateway city with its charming boulevard, university atmosphere, and excellent dining options, making this region ideal for extended diving stays with reliable infrastructure and warm Filipino hospitality.
