About Moalboal & Pescador Island (Cebu)

Moalboal on the southwestern coast of Cebu is one of the Philippines' most iconic diving destinations, famous worldwide for its extraordinary sardine run where millions of sardines form massive swirling baitballs just metres from Panagsama Beach. This year-round phenomenon is one of the most accessible and spectacular marine events in Southeast Asia, with thresher sharks, trevally, and mackerel hunting the baitball in shallow water. Beyond the sardines, Moalboal offers outstanding reef and wall diving at Pescador Island, a small volcanic island surrounded by dramatic walls draped in soft corals and teeming with schooling jacks, eagle rays, and nudibranchs. Talisa Point provides exceptional macro diving with seahorses, frogfish, and ghost pipefish while Tongo Point delivers colourful walls with anthias, butterflyfish, and whitetip reef sharks. The Airplane Wreck, a small Cessna sunk as an artificial reef at 18 metres, has become home to lionfish and batfish. With excellent shore diving access, affordable accommodation, and a laid-back backpacker atmosphere, Moalboal appeals to divers of all levels and budgets while delivering world-class underwater encounters.
