Scuba Diving Regions in Portugal
From world-class walls to muck diving havens, discover the unique character of each regional cluster.
Regional Diversity
Diving in Portugal is possible year-round, but the best conditions vary by region. The main season for the mainland and archipelagos is from June to October. In the Azores, July to September is the peak time for pelagic encounters. Madeira offers comfortable diving throughout the year, with the warmest water (22°C-24°C) occurring in late summer and autumn. Mainland visibility is generally best in the summer months.
Planning Tips
Many regions are seasonally dependent. For Portugal, the best diving conditions are usually spread across different months depending on the archipelago or coast.
