Spain’s inland dive sites are flooded quarries, reservoirs and karst lakes used mainly for training, altitude diving and exploration. Buseo in Cuenca is a crystal-clear travertine quarry with a sunken forest and platforms, while Lago de Sanabria is the country’s largest natural lake with a submerged glacial valley. The Sotonera and Entrepeñas reservoirs hide submerged churches and forests, and the Almendra is a deep technical destination. The Ruidera lakes add clear karst water and some caves. Cool, fresh water and long seasons extend diving well outside the coastal months. This region rewards careful planning and respects Spain’s marine-protection rules, offering rewarding diving across a wide range of experience levels through a long and varied season.

Getting There

Sites are scattered inland; Buseo is near Cuenca, Sanabria in Zamora, Sotonera in Huesca and Entrepeñas in Guadalajara, all reached by rental car from Madrid or Zaragoza.
