Scuba Diving Regions in Sri Lanka

From world-class walls to muck diving havens, discover the unique character of each regional cluster.

    Regional Diversity

Diving in Sri Lanka is possible year-round, but it is highly seasonal depending on the coast. For the West and South Coasts (Colombo, Galle, Mirissa), the prime season is from November to April when the seas are calm and visibility is best. For the East Coast (Trincomalee, Nilaveli, Passikudah), the best conditions are found between May and October. The monsoon seasons bring higher rainfall and rougher seas to their respective coasts, making diving difficult during those times. The water temperature remains consistently warm and inviting between 27°C and 30°C throughout the year.
