About Uepi Island & Marovo Lagoon

Uepi Island sits on the barrier reef at the mouth of Marovo Lagoon, the largest double-barrier enclosed lagoon in the world and a UNESCO-listed treasure of the Western Province. This is wall-diving country at its most dramatic: Uepi Point plunges from 5 m into the blue, and The Slot funnels dozens of sharks and vast schools of jacks through a narrow channel. The lagoon side offers serene coral gardens, giant clams and abundant macro at the house reefs, while Cathedral Wall and the outer reefs of Kicha and Mbulo carry gorgonians, black coral and the chance of hammerheads and mantas. The single, intimate Uepi Island Resort makes this a true get-away-from-it-all destination, with short boat rides to a remarkable variety of walls, pinnacles and drop-offs in consistently clear, warm water.

Getting There

Fly to Munda (MUA) then transfer by boat across Marovo Lagoon to Uepi Island Resort, a journey of roughly 45 minutes to an hour. The resort runs its own dive boats to Uepi Point, The Slot and the lagoon reefs. Liveaboards also visit the outer Marovo walls.
