About Aneityum (Far South – Pristine)

Aneityum is Vanuatu's southernmost island and one of its most pristine, with no dive infrastructure and sites reached only by liveaboard or private yacht. The Aneityum Outer Reef is an untouched coral wall with massive gorgonians, grey and silvertip sharks, dogtooth tuna and abundant turtles, while Mystery Island (Inyeug) offers shallow coral gardens with giant clams and butterflyfish that are perfect for snorkelling and beginners. The sense of remoteness is the draw: healthy coral, big fish and almost no other divers. Aneityum is the destination for travellers who want the wildest, least-disturbed reefs in the country. With healthy coral, clear water and a genuine frontier feel, the region rewards divers who make the journey to this part of Vanuatu.

Getting There

Aneityum has no commercial dive operators, so it is reached by liveaboard or private yacht that anchors off the island. Flights to Anelghowhat (AUY) exist but land-based diving is not established, so most visitors dive here as part of a southern expedition.
