Aneityum Outer Reef is one of the signature dive sites of Aneityum (Far South – Pristine) in Vanuatu. Untouched coral walls, massive gorgonians, grey reef sharks, silvertip sharks, dogtooth tuna and abundant turtles, with no dive infrastructure, reached only by liveaboard or private yacht. The site reaches a maximum depth of about 50 m, with an average depth near 25 m, and its wall, drop-off topography is draped in coral, rock. Marine life is the headline attraction, with Grey reef shark, Gorgonian sea fan, Soft coral gardens, Green sea turtle, Great barracuda, Whitetip reef shark, Black coral, Silvertip shark, Dogtooth tuna, Gorgonian sea fan regularly recorded here, drawn in by the strong currents and the rich coral-reef productivity of the region. Visibility typically ranges from 20 to 40 m, while water temperatures hold a consistent 24 to 29 C year-round, comfortable in a 3 to 5 mm wetsuit. Neutral buoyancy protects the fragile coral and the group stays close to manage depth and any surge.
