Coral Garden (Hon Mun) – Nha Trang Dive Site

Site Overview

Coral Garden on Hon Mun Island is one of Nha Trang's most beloved dive sites and a showcase for the remarkable biodiversity protected within Vietnam's first Marine Protected Area. The site features extensive hard coral formations at depths of 4 to 14 metres, creating an underwater garden of staghorn corals, table acroporas, and brain corals that support an extraordinary diversity of tropical reef fish. Anemonefish colonies are abundant, with multiple species hosting in the large sea anemones scattered across the reef flat. Butterflyfish, parrotfish, and wrasses patrol the coral bommies in constant activity, while sea cucumbers and nudibranchs decorate the sandy patches between formations. The shallow depth profile allows for extended bottom times and excellent natural light conditions, making it an outstanding site for underwater photography and videography. The protected status of Hon Mun ensures healthy coral coverage that has recovered significantly since the marine park's establishment. Divers can expect visibility of 10 to 25 metres during the dry season, with water temperatures consistently warm at 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. The gentle currents and sheltered bay conditions make Coral Garden an ideal introduction to Vietnamese diving for beginners while still offering enough marine diversity to satisfy experienced divers and photographers seeking macro subjects among the coral formations.
