Limassol stretches along the busy south coast of Cyprus between the Troodos foothills and the sea, and has quietly built a reputation as one of the island’s most diver-friendly regions. Its headline attractions are the purpose-sunk wrecks of the Costandis and the Lady Thetis, both lying in easy, recreational depths and now draped in marine growth and surrounded by schooling fish. Alongside the wrecks, Limassol offers the Dasoudi artificial reef, the shallow limestone swim-throughs of Amathounta Caves and the calm, protected ledges of Governor’s Beach, where octopus and cuttlefish are regular finds. The coast is gently shelving and well sheltered, so conditions are reliably good for training and for relaxed macro photography. Limassol itself is a lively city of marinas, wine festivals and a medieval castle, and it makes a convenient base that blends big-city comforts with quick boat access to a surprisingly varied underwater menu.

Getting There

Fly into Larnaca (LCA) or Paphos (PFO) international airports, then drive to Limassol city. A rental car is the most flexible way to reach the harbours and dive boats, and most centres run hotel transfers.
