Reached by air from Guam, Hawaii and the Asia-Pacific, the four states each offer a distinct and unforgettable diving character.

Liveaboards are the premier way to dive Chuuk's outer lagoon wrecks and the remote atolls of Pohnpei such as Ahnd (Ant) and Sapwuahfik, and they link the states on multi-day routes. Several dedicated wreck liveaboards operate year-round in Chuuk, while expedition vessels cover the outer islands in the dry season. Land-based diving dominates Yap and Kosrae, but liveaboards add access to sites unreachable from shore.

International flights arrive at Pohnpei, Chuuk, Yap and Kosrae, primarily via Guam and Honolulu with United Airlines. Island Air and Caroline Islands Air provide inter-state flights between Pohnpei, Chuuk, Yap and Kosrae, while outer islands are reached by small aircraft, field-trip boats and expedition liveaboards. On each island, rental cars, taxis, scooters and dive-centre boats provide local transport.
