Scuba Diving Regions in Federated States of Micronesia
From world-class walls to muck diving havens, discover the unique character of each regional cluster.
Regional Diversity
Diving is possible year-round in Micronesia thanks to warm tropical water, but the most comfortable and predictable conditions fall in the dry season from December to April, when seas are calm, visibility is at its best and the risk of typhoons is lowest. The wetter, more humid season from July to November brings higher rain and the chance of passing typhoons, though sheltered lagoons such as Chuuk and Yap remain diveable between weather systems. Manta encounters are excellent year-round in Yap, while Pohnpei's Manta Road peaks from November to April. Water temperatures hover between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius, making a 3 to 5 mm wetsuit comfortable in every month.
Planning Tips
Many regions are seasonally dependent. For Federated States of Micronesia, the best diving conditions are usually spread across different months depending on the archipelago or coast.
