The south and east coasts are the island's fishing backbone, so the eating is direct: grilled snapper or kingfish with dumplings and provision at the village cookshops, oild sardine from the Grenville roadside, and the famous oil-jack (soursop) blended cold at the juice stands. This is the advanced coast, the wet-weather opposite of the sheltered southwest, and for many divers the best day of the week. Grenada sits on the southern edge of the Caribbean plate, where a volcanic core and a shelf that drops away steeply from the southwest coast put walls, pinnacles and wrecks within a short boat ride of every base. Shark Reef and Snapper Ground anchor the Atlantic circuit, with Glover's Island and the Grand Anse MPA structures bridging between the two coasts. Behind the headliners runs a long fringe of named ground - Stingray Alley, Boulder City, the two Sharkies Hideaway spots, Windmill Shallows' narrow 6-9 m ridge, Kahonee, Kansas Reef and the rest - the sites operators slot in when the swell reads just right, and the reason a week here keeps producing new lines on the map. Trade winds blow almost constant over the Caribbean, and it is their lulls and builds that set the daily diving schedule around Grenada. Water temperature stays in the high twenties year-round and the island sits outside the main hurricane belt, so the dive boats run twelve months a year.

The south coast is reached by boat from the southwest marinas - a 20-40 minute crossing that becomes the day's weather report - or from the east-side launches near Grenville for the most Atlantic-adjacent sites. Operators run the drifts on tide-timed mornings and only when the flow reads safe; a south-coast day is a planned expedition, not a default. When the trades drop and the swell flattens, the fleets move here as a group because nothing on the sheltered side matches the fish-in-current show. Logistics follow the drift's one-way logic: divers descend against the flow or get dropped up-current, the boat trails the descent, and everyone surfaces into a pickup with a positive float - which is why these sites are gated on buoyancy comfort and basic drift experience, not just a certification card.
