The north and south reef systems feature extensive table acropora formations that create habitat for angelfish butterflyfish stingrays and green turtles in a classic Persian Gulf coral environment. Beyond the reef edge the Kubbar Drop-off presents a sandy slope habitat where garden eels extend from their burrows stingrays patrol the sand and occasional leopard sharks cruise through the deeper water. The Artificial Reef Modules east of the island represent a forward thinking marine conservation project with concrete reef balls and domes designed to enhance fish aggregation and provide habitat for macro species including nudibranchs and various small invertebrates.     Getting There

    Kubbar Island is accessed exclusively by boat from Kuwait City or the southern coast with the crossing taking approximately one to two hours depending on vessel type and departure point. Dive operators in Kuwait City and Salmiya organise regular day trips to the island during the diving season from October through May. The island is uninhabited with no facilities so all diving logistics must be self contained on the dive boat. International visitors fly into Kuwait International Airport and connect through city based dive operators who handle all island trip arrangements including boat transport equipment and guiding.
