Scuba Diving Regions in South Africa
From world-class walls to muck diving havens, discover the unique character of each regional cluster.
Regional Diversity
South Africa is a year-round diving destination, but the best time depends on the region. Sodwana Bay is excellent all year. The Sardine Run occurs in June and July. Cape Town's diving is often best in winter (June to August) for visibility, while summer (December to February) offers warmer (but still cool) waters. Shark sightings at Aliwal Shoal are most reliable from June to November.
Planning Tips
Many regions are seasonally dependent. For South Africa, the best diving conditions are usually spread across different months depending on the archipelago or coast.
