Scuba Diving Regions in South Africa

Comprehensive guide to all diving regions across South Africa

    Overview

South Africa is a year-round diving destination, but the best time depends on the region. Sodwana Bay is excellent all year. The Sardine Run occurs in June and July. Cape Town's diving is often best in winter (June to August) for visibility, while summer (December to February) offers warmer (but still cool) waters. Shark sightings at Aliwal Shoal are most reliable from June to November.
