Bligh Water and the Vatu-i-Ra Passage represent the ultimate Fijian diving adventure, a liveaboard paradise of offshore pinnacles, dramatic walls, and pelagic-filled passages that deliver some of the most exciting diving in the South Pacific. The Vatu-I-Ra Reef is a massive pinnacle rising from deep water in the centre of the passage, surrounded by schooling barracuda, jacks, grey reef sharks, and seasonal manta rays and whale sharks. E-6 is a stunning coral bommie with a brilliant mix of hard and soft corals, thousands of anthias, macro life in crevices, and regular visits from turtles and eagle rays. Mellow Yellow features a wall covered in vivid yellow soft corals with dense fish schools, pygmy seahorses, and nudibranchs. Black Magic Mountain is a deep-water pinnacle where hammerheads appear in the blue alongside grey reef sharks, silvertips, and schooling big-eye trevally. Cats Meow offers large gorgonian sea fans, whip corals, frogfish, and mandarinfish at dusk. The Whales Tooth is a drift dive with strong currents delivering pelagic action including tuna, mackerel, and occasional sailfish. Halfmoon is a crescent-shaped reef with a calm lagoon side providing excellent macro diving with pipefish and leaf scorpionfish. Bligh Water is best experienced on a liveaboard departing from Nadi, Savusavu, or Suva, with itineraries typically lasting 7 to 10 nights. The area is protected under the Vatu-i-Ra Conservation Park initiative.
